Postural Realignment is a program with the goal of realigning one’s posture by means of manual therapy, targeted exercises, along with adjustments in normal daily activities, such as your sitting and standing habits. The process usually begins with an observation of postural issues which will then identify any tight or weak muscles that may be causing you to maintain poor posture, as well as other contributors. If it is determined that poor posture is contributing to your pain or other issues, then Postural Realignment will be incorporated into your Therapy treatment plan.
The program starts with hands-on manual therapy and then teaches specific exercises to improve posture. These are specifically designed to strengthen weak muscles and stretch tight muscles that may be causing you to maintain a painful and poor posture. Additionally, exercises may be suggested for loosening stiff joints or providing more stability to joints that are overused in your day-to-day routine. Next, we’ll offer instructions and training on proper sitting and standing positioning, as well as functional movement that will help you reduce strain on your body during daily activity. These instructions will take into account your occupation, driving habits, and other daily activities. Practicing a healthy posture can improve your overall functionality and reduce pain significantly.
Ask your Hands-On therapist if Postural Realignment could benefit you. They will perform a comprehensive postural assessment and start you on a successful program that leads to relief!
